I have received a comment from Microsoft's Andrea Valboni, who is the representative of the proposing corporation within UNINFO (the Italian MB of ISO/IEC JTC1). He claims that there must be competition between standards. I respectfully submit that that is a twisted view of what a standard is, as it must be competition between implementation, not standards.
