NO al format de Microsoft Office com a estàndard ISO
Sol·licito als membres del comitè nacional d'ISO que votin "NO" al ISO DIS 29500 (Office OpenXML o OOXML format) per les següents raons:
- Ja hi ha un estàndard ISO26300 anomenat Open Document Format (ODF): dos formats suposaran costos i confusió a la indústria, el govern i els ciutadans;
- No hi ha cap implementació de referència de l'especificació de l'OOXML: el Microsoft Office 2007 produeix una versió especial de l'OOXML que no compleix amb l'especificació de l'OOXML proposta en ISO;
- En el document d'especificació falta informació com, per exemple, com implementar un autoSpaceLikeWord95 o un useWord97LineBreakRules;
- Més del 10% dels exemples de la seva especificació no validen la conformitat amb XML;
- No hi ha cap garantia perquè qualsevol pugui implementar parcial o totalment l'especificació de l'OOXML sense arriscar-se que Microsoft li reclami danys i perjudicis per infracció de patents o el pagament de llicències de patents;
- Aquesta proposta d'estàndard entra en conflicte amb altres estàndards ISO, com ISO 8601 (representació de dates i temps), ISO 639 (codis de representació de nom i idiomes) o ISO/IEC 10118-3 (funcions hash de criptografia);
- Hi ha un error en l'especificació del fitxer de formats de fulla de càlcul que impedeix introduir qualsevol data prèvia a l'any 1900: Això és un error que s'arrossega des de les obsoletes versions de 16bits de l'aplicació MS-Office;
- Aquesta proposta d'estàndard no s'ha creat unint l'experiència i les millors pràctiques de totes les parts interessades (tals com productors, distribuïdors, consumidors, usuaris i reguladors), sinó per Microsoft en solitari.
