EI Microsoft Officea ISO-standardiksi

Pyydän ISO:n kansallisia jäseniä äänestämään ISO DIS 29500 (Office OpenXML tai OOXML -formaatti) -esitystä vastaan seuraavista syistä:

  1. Standardi ISO26300, Open Document Format (ODF), on jo olemassa: kaksinkertainen standardi kasvattaa teollisuuden, valtioiden ja yksityishenkilöiden kuluja ja epävarmuutta;
  2. Toimivaksi todistettua toteutusta OOXML:stä ei ole olemassa. Microsoft Office 2007:n toteutus on erityisversio eikä OOXML-määrittelyn mukainen tiedostomuoto;
  3. Määrittelydokumentista puuttuu tietoa: mm. ominaisuuksien autoSpaceLikeWord95 ja useWord97LineBreakRules toteutus;
  4. Yli 10% määrittelydokumentin esimerkeistä eivät ole validia XML:ää;
  5. Ei ole mitään takeita, että kukaan pystyy kirjoittamaan edes osittaista OOXML:n toteutusta joutumatta maksamaan Microsoftin patenteista aiheutuvia vahingonkorvauksia tai -rojalteja;
  6. Esitetty standardi on ristiriidassa muiden ISO-standardien kanssa: mm. ISO 8601 (päivämäärien ja aikojen esittäminen), ISO 639 (nimien ja kielten esittäminen) tai ISO/IEC 10118-3 (kryptografinen hajautusfunktio);
  7. Taulukkolaskentaformaatissa on bugi, joka estää ennen vuotta 1900 olleiden päivämäärien esittämisen. Tämä bugi vaikuttaa, paitsi OOXML:ään, myös ohjelmistoihin kuten Microsoft Excel 2000, XP, 2003 tai 2007;
  8. Tätä standardia ei ole laadittu kaikkien intressiryhmien (kuten ohjelmistojen valmistajat, myyjät, ostajat, käyttäjät ja hallinnoijat) kokemusta ja asiantuntemusta käyttäen, vaan laatijana on ollut pelkästään Microsoft.
