Katakan TIDAK untuk format Microsoft Office sebagai standar ISO
Saya meminta kepada anggota ISO nasional untuk memilih "TIDAK" dalam menggunakan hak suaranya terhadap ISO DIS 29500 (Office OpenXML atau OOXML format) berdasarkan atas alasan-alasan sebagai berikut:
- Sudah ada standar untuk ISO26300 yaitu Open Document Format (ODF): standar yang berganda menambah biaya, ketidakpastian dan kebingungan di kalangan industri dan khalayak umum;
- Tidak ada Contoh implementasi nyata terhadap spesifikasi OOXML: Microsoft Office 2007 menghasilkan versi khusus dari OOXML, bukan file terformat yang sesuai dengan spesifikasi OOXML;
- Ada informasi yang hilang dari spesifikasi dokumen, sebagai contoh bagaimana melakukan autoSpaceLikeWord95 atau useWord97LineBreakRules;
- Lebih dari 10% dari contoh yang disebutkan di standar proposal tidak valid dalam konteks XML;
- Sudah tidak ada garansi bahwa siapapun dapat menulis perangkat lunak yang secara penuh atau sebagian dalam implementasi spesifikasi OOXML tanpa dikenakan pelanggaran paten atau biaya lisensi paten oleh Microsoft;
- This standard proposal conflicts with other ISO standards, such as ISO 8601 (Representation of dates and times), ISO 639 (Codes for the Representation of Names and Languages) or ISO/IEC 10118-3 (cryptographic hash);
- Standar proposal ini bertentangan dengan standar ISO yang lain, seperti ISO 8601 (perwakilan dari tanggal dan waktu), ISO 639 (Kode untuk perwakilan penamaan dan bahasa) atau ISO/IEC 10118-3 (hash kriptografi);
- Ada kutu/bug (kesalahan programming) didalam format spreadsheet/lembar sebar yang melarang untuk memasukan tanggal sebelum tahun 1900: kutu/bug ini terdapat di spesifikasi OOXML juga di versi perangkat lunak seperti Microsoft Excel 2000, XP, 2003 or 2007.
- Standar proposal ini tidak dibuat dengan melibatkan secara bersama-sama dengan ahli-ahli yang berpengalaman dari semua pihak yang terkait (seperti produsen, penjual, pembeli, pengguna dan pihak berwenang), namun hanya Microsoft sendiri
