Diga NÃO ao novo formato MS-Office como padrão ISO
Solicito aos membros do comitê nacional de ISO que votem “NÃO” na consulta ISO DIS 29500 (formato de documento Office OpenXML ou OOXML), tendo em vista, entre outras, as seguintes razões:
- Já existe um padrão, ISO 26300, chamado Open Document Format (ODF): um padrão duplo implicaria novos custos, incertitude e confusão para a indústria, o governo e os cidadãos;
- Não existe nenhuma implementação de referência da especificação OOXML: Microsoft Office 2007 produz um versão especial de OOXML que não está de acordo com a especificação de OOXML proposta para ISO;
- Falta informação no documento de especificação, por exemplo, de como implementar um “autoSpaceLikeWord95” ou um “useWord97LineBreakRules”;
- Mais de 10% dos exemplos mencionados na especificação não são XML válido;
- Não existe nenhuma garantia que alguém possa implementar parcial ou totalmente a especificação de OOXML sem correr o risco de que Microsoft lhe imponha multa por infração de patentes ou pagamento de licença pelo seu uso dos mesmos;
- Esta proposta de padrão entra em conflito com outros padrões ISO, como ISO 8601 (representação de datas e tempos), ISO 639 (códigos de representação de nomes e línguas) ou ISO/IEC 10118-3 (funções de hash de criptografia);
- Existe um erro no formato de planilha de cálculo que impede a entrada de datas anteriores a 1900: este erro data de versões obsoletas de 16 bits do programa MS-Office e persiste até as versões de hoje;
- Esta proposta e padrão não foi criada* reunindo a experiência e melhores práticas de todas as partes interessadas (tais como produtores, distribuidores, consumidores, usuários e reguladores), e sim **pela Microsoft agindo sozinha.
